![]() There are elements of her character which are really fun to play. I had to do my research before we started and it opened my eyes to a whole new world! I'd say she's not really like me. "I'm not a call girl, I'm not a dominatrix! I found it quite funny I'd been cast as this character. And she's very different from the characters I've played before, which I was very pleased about - the character I played before in Sherlock was a very demure, very sweet character, so it was nice to do something utterly different." They've really upped the comedy in this series. I think it's brilliantly done, very funny, well-written, and Billie I've always thought has been great in it. I found out later that they had all their hopes riding on that meeting and luckily it must have gone okay because then they offered me the part!"įrom your perspective, why did you want a part in the show? And everyone agreed, and then they kind of forgot. One of the producers had thought of me right at the beginning of their casting process and she couldn't remember my name, but she said, 'There's an actress I think would be great for a part, we should see her'. Actually I was cast only a week before we began filming, so it was very last minute. I wasn't aware that they'd been looking for quite a few months for someone to play the part of the arch-nemesis of Belle. "I got a call out of the blue about the part in Secret Diary.
